Even if you use a synthetic lice treatment product or lice shampoo, you still need to use a head lice comb as it is the only way to remove the eggs, or nits as they are more commonly known, from the hair. Yet to be effective the head lice comb must be used very thoroughly which takes time and patience. This is because the eggs are "glued" to the hair shaft, making it difficult to get rid of lice.

Selecting the best head lice comb is now more complex and confusing due to the increased choices of nit comb that are now available in the marketplace.

So whilst using lice combs is most definitely the best solution to eradicating nits, it is also the most laborious and unless great care and patience is exercised eggs are likely to be missed and re-infestation occur.
